How we verify our calculations

Every formula on this site is a standard, publicly documented financial calculation, the same weighted-average math your brokerage uses internally, not something we invented. Before any worked example is published, we calculate it by hand independently of the calculator's code and confirm the two match. When we cite an external fact, such as tax treatment, we link to an official source (like the IRS) rather than stating it from memory.

What this site doesn't do

• We don't provide personalized investment recommendations.
• We don't tell you whether to buy, hold, or sell any specific security.
• We don't give country-specific tax advice; tax treatment varies by jurisdiction and we say so explicitly wherever it's relevant.
• We don't fabricate statistics, reviews, or ratings to make the site look more established than it is.

Editorial standards

Content is written to satisfy a real question a user has, not to hit a word count. We'd rather a section be shorter and accurate than padded and vague. Every numerical example on the site is checked against the formula it's teaching, and we update the "last reviewed" date whenever a page's substance changes, not on a fixed schedule for its own sake.
